Peter Alberice, AIA, NCARB, LEED – President

As President of Alberice architecture + design PA, Peter leads the design and production efforts of the firm. He combines a wide range of design skills with a solid foundation in construction management and master planning. He has practiced in western North Carolina since 1983, and has been a project manager for many educational, commercial, and institutional projects. He has an extensive background in historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects including residential and commercial mixed use buildings.

Peter has served on the Asheville Historic Resources Commission, the Asheville Downtown Association, and the Asheville Downtown Commission. While serving on the Downtown Commission he participated in the design of two different downtown master plans along with two major revisions and additions to the downtown design guidelines. While on the commission, he chaired the design review subcommittee which evaluated all of the proposed downtown projects from 1999 through early 2010.

He is a Past Chair of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. Peter has received both a Bachelor of Architecture (1976) and a Master of Architecture (1983) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Peter is certified by the United States Green Building Council as a LEED accredited professional.

Eric R. Howell, Associate AIA / Project Manager

After obtaining his associate in science degree where he was taught the art of hand drafting and the efficiency of computer aided design and drafting, he completed his architecture degree. His career began designing commercial, retail, educational, ecclesiastical and medical building design and construction management here in Asheville, North Carolina. Eric has been in Asheville since the Spring of 2002 and has worked on a variety of different project types with AA+D. His range of experience includes project management, design and production for all phases of architectural work from design through construction.
Eric’s strength is in his ability to communicate and coordinate with both clients and consultants. He was once an active member and past president of a local Toastmaster’s club. His background in website design and a detailed understanding of the latest architectural software has enabled him to efficiently incorporate technology in every project.

Melanie Dover Goodson, NCIDQ / Interior Designer

melanieMelanie Dover Goodson is NCIDQ-certified and holds bachelor’s degrees from North Carolina State University (Mechanical Engineering) and Western Carolina University (Interior Design). With a background in commercial design and construction management, she brings to the firm a unique set of work skills insuring interior spaces are as customized and well-executed as the buildings themselves.

Melanie is focused on creating clear and elegant design solutions to suit each project’s unique aesthetic. She originally joined Alberice Architecture and Design in January of 2007. After working several years in the mechanical construction industry, she rejoined AA+D in May of 2016.

Mollie, our office manager, maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures; preparing payroll and controlling correspondence. She also maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems, layouts, and equipment procurement. Her other duties include maintaining office staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees. She is a valued staff member.

Mollie recently purchased a house and is making changes to its layout and design all the time.
